Here at Purple Bike Shed we not only maintain, set-up and repair mountain bikes, tandems and road bikes, we are also keen cyclists ourselves, and enjoy nothing better than a hack around the local single track or roads.

There are miles of singletrack in the area just waiting to be enjoyed, but if you don’t know where to look, you’ll miss the best bits. Purple Bike Shed offer a Mountain Bike Guiding service at very reasonable rates.

Purple Bike Shed staff are OTC Technical Mountain Bike Leadership trained. This will mean you have a Cytech accredited mechanic, OTC trained guide and qualified first aider showing you the best bits of the local woods.

There are a number of very good mountain biking areas in the Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey borders, such as the Mountain Biking mecca of Swinley Forest (also called The LookOut), various Forestry sites heading out through Yateley, towards Farnborough and Eversley; further south to Pirbright, and stretching all the way to Leith Hill. There are, however, a number of restrictions that apply, please contact us for details.

Further afield, towards Oxford there is also some great riding to be had. More variation with lovely bits of single track in woods to open tracks with great views and lots of long fast descents and some step climbs to match. The area covered reaches from Pangbourne and Goring right over to Watlington and the M40 motorway.

We are also available on a freelance basis to assist organisations who need extra mountain bike guides and mountain bike leaders for larger groups.
